More mischievous than good

It owes its name to a boy who never wanted to grow up. The Peter Pan collar elicits memories of childhood - and is an absolute must-have this season for fashionable trend setters.

Victoria Beckham featured it, as did Marc Jacobs, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton. Even the haute-couture super label Chanel was unable to avoid it during the shows in Paris. The Peter Pan collar graced countless dresses, blouses and jackets and since then has celebrated its glamorous comeback with international style insiders.
The flat, mostly pristine white attention-seeker with its characteristic rounded edges appeared as a fashion item for the first time at the beginning of the 20th century. It adorned the actress Maude Adams's costume and acted as a sort of visual highlight in her role as Peter Pan - hence the name. In its heyday in the twenties, it was mainly used as an innocent showpiece for children's clothing on Sundays.

Today, the Peter Pan collar with its trendy appearance and girlish look has conquered the hearts of the fashionistas - in a way that's anything but conservative. The most popular example of this deep love of the collar is the British model, Alexa Chung. It's also due to the fact that she is regarded as a style icon that the bashful white accessory became a desired must-have piece.
No matter whether in classical black or white, lavishly embellished or with a striking print, the round extra large collar sits perfectly on plain-coloured dresses and blouses. But beware of the little girl look! The effective antidote: Inconsistencies in style - these make an outfit appear less severe and also more feminine and chic. A slightly transparent blouse with an apparently innocent Peter Pan collar goes extremely well with casual jeans, high heels and a biker jacket.

Particularly resourceful fashion fans also like wearing detachable collars as well as permanent ones. These separate fabric accessories can be tied on easily and lend each outfit the certain something in no time.
For party evenings and more glamorous occasions, the round fashion favourites exchange their textile for a fancy appearance. Consisting of multiple chains or small beads, in gold with engraved button adornments, single colour or multi colour, they pave the way for each top, dress or décolleté to make a glamorous appearance.
